I would say this is my most successful image. I say this because I feel as the perspective, shadows, and colors of this photo help create an image that is appealing. The sunset creates a pretty color in the sky but also causes the land to start appearing darker than normal. The clouds also add a layer a to this photo to help enhance it. Since this photo is also taken at a distance you see how the beach curves towards the end.
The most challenging aspect of this assignment for me was selecting photos from the photographer to mimic. This whole semester I created a habit of taking pictures whenever I saw the opportunity. I wanted to use a photo from February/Early March to add contrast to my photos for this assignment. Tim Parkin has lots of great landscape photos and it was hard comparing our images together to see see which one would make a great match.
What I can do in the future to help create stronger photos is taking the same photo in different angles. My first photo for this assignment I can't help but feel that if a had shot at a different angle, but still with a low perspective, it could have came out as a stronger photo. While I feel as I'm improving with using shadows and light, I still can work on those skills. I feel as mastering shadows and light will have the hugest impact on my photos.
Hey Kimberly!
This is a beautiful photo. You really captured the ombre of the sunset well. I also really like the angle you chose which has the clouds coming in towards the sun and the bend of land right in front of the focal point. The reflection of colors in the water really ties the whole thing together. Amazing job!
Hi Kimberly! I think you did an overall amazing job at emulating this photographer's work. This photo especially is amazing! All of the lighting and the shadows and colors really come together so nicely and it looks just like the photographer's style! Great job :)

Hi Kaitlyn! This is a really great photo! I love how close up you took this. You can see so much detail in the plant which helps show its beauty. By having this photo in black and white, the textures also get amplified. I would say you did a great job emulating the original photo from Paul Strand. Honestly, there isn't too much I would have done differently. Though I do wonder how different this photo would have looked by capturing it from different angles/perspectives. That is just something to experiment with in the future.
I absolutely love the photo taken for this assignment! The focus on the bright/colorful sky at sunset over the dark beach is really a pleasure to look at. The image gives off an incredible tone and is aesthetically pleasing to look at. Also, the camera used made the image very sharp and gave clear definition. I do not have any recommendations for future photos because I thought this photo was very effective and creative.
